Second Time's a Charm for Senator John Edwards

Amidst a New Orleans neighbourhood still devastated by the effects of Hurricane Katrina more than a year later, Senator John Edwards announced his presidential run for 2008. In 2004 the senator from North Carolina ran as a vice presidential candidate alongside Massachusetts senator John Kerry.
His campaign this time around is stronger and more clear: eliminating poverty, reducing global warming and providing universal health care for all Americans and for the immediate return of 40,000 to 50,000 troops.
So far, only Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack and Representative Dennis Kucinich have declared their 2008 presidential intentions. But there is lots of speculation that Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton and Senator Barack Obama may also run.
