Norwegian Royal Family

THE NORWEGIAN ROYAL FAMILY
The House of Oldenberg is headed by King Harald V (b. 1937), who is married to Sonja Haraldsen (b. 1937). The couple had to wait nine years before they could get married because Sonja was a commoner. The couple have two children: Princess Märtha Louise (b. 1971) and Crown Prince Haakon Magnus (b. 1973).

Princess Märtha Louise is married to author Ari Behn (b. 1972), with whom she has two daughters: Maud Angelica Behn (b. 2003) and Leah Isadora Behn (b. 2005).

Crown Prince Haakon is married to Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby (b. 1973). The marriage created some controversy because she was a single mother who had previously been known to dabble in the drug scene, and because the couple lived together prior to their marriage. The couple have two children: Princess Ingrid Alexandra (b. 2004), who will succeed her father to the throne, and Prince Sverre Magnus (b. 2005). Crown Princess Mette-Marit has a son from a previous relationship, Marius Borg Høiby (b. 1997).
